Playback starts in the middle of a recording
I’m watching a DVR recording and in the middle of the playback I decide to watch another recording. So, I hit the Back button until I get to the list of recordings. I select the recordings and then hit Watch Now and the recording starts. But not at the beginning. It appears to play at the same time point I was at in the previous recording.
Is this for real? I have to back out of the recording and hit Start Over.
I’m using a new Apple TV box. With the DirecTV Stream app installed from Apple Store.
Other than this I’m really enjoying DirecTV Stream.

We appreciate you sharing your experience, @DoctorRashir, and we are glad you are enjoying DIRECTV STREAM on your Apple TV!
When switching between cloud recordings quickly, a temporary data sync mismatch can cause the video player to carry over the timestamp from your previous viewing session.
To reset the app's player memory, try refreshing the temporary app data on your Apple TV:
1. Force Close the App: Double-click the TV/Home button on your Apple TV remote, then swipe up on the DIRECTV app tile to close it completely.
2. Offload the App: Go to Apple TV Settings > General > Manage Storage. Find the DIRECTV app, click the trash icon, and choose Offload (this clears temporary data without deleting your login info).
3. Relaunch: Reopen the app and test your recordings again.
If the behavior persists after offloading, performing a quick delete and clean reinstall of the app from the App Store usually clears it right up. More troubleshooting tips here: https://www.directv.com/support/article/000073045 Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team

Thank you for the recovery method. I propose that the app needs a fix. The app knows you’re switching to a different recording and should act appropriately and assume a start from the beginning. If the show you are switching to is in the middle, that data can be transmitted to the app when the playback starts.

We appreciate the follow-up and your detailed input on how the app handles playback transitions. You are entirely right that navigating between two separate recording files should result in independent start points or resume at their exact saved timestamps.
Your feedback on how data is handled during recording switches has been noted and shared with our team for review as we work to optimize the streaming experience across all supported devices. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Team

I’ve been having the same problem on multiple TV’s; so it must be a problem with the DIRECTV app. I hope it gets fixed soon.
